Hyperion presents the final volume in Angela Hewitt’s traversal of the complete Mozart Piano Sonatas, recorded on her beloved Fazioli piano. This double-album’s treasures include the K545 ‘Sonate facile’, loved by millions of piano students worldwide. Alongside are the clever and witty Variations on 'Ah vous dirai-je, maman' (known in the English-speaking world as ‘Twinkle, twinkle, little star’) and Mozart’s very last piano sonatas.This is Angela’s 50th release on the label, marking a monumental milestone in her 31 years (and counting!) as an esteemed Hyperion artist.

Toyah’s bold, defiant and most experimental work, the 1988 solo album is released for the first time ever as an expanded CD edition in deluxe 7” sized gatefold packaging. This Deluxe 2CD Edition features a previously unreleased live recording of the album from Chichester. In November/December 1988 Toyah formed a new band Fripp Fripp with musician/husband Robert Fripp and embarked on a 22-date tour. On the 7 UK and 15 European gigs Toyah performed the album live, accompanied by Paul Beavis on live drums as the tour’s first act. For Toyah fans and collectors, it’s a fascinating document of Toyah performing an impressive volume of vocals, dialogue and lyrics with precision and defiance.

Released by Edsel, Toyah's 1987 studio album Desire receives it's first ever standalone CD reissue in a new expanded edition, in deluxe 7" sized gatefold packaging. Originally issued on the EG label, the album was produced by Mike Hedges (Siouxise & The Banshees) and recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in the autumn of 1986. This deluxe 2cd edition includes a second disc of 18 rare and 'desirable' bonus tracks including the 12" mix of lead single Echo Beach plus outtakes and B-Sides from the album sessions. Excitingly six previously unreleased tracks feature including the long-awaited release of the post-Desire rarity We Play Machines.

Presaging the teen-pop phenomenon of the late '90s, Take That took Great Britain by storm in 1993. They didn't, however, hit the States until this release, and even then they hardly made a dent, with only the single "Back for Good" getting any airplay. Where Hanson sparked the boy band craze in the U.S. with a tight band, assured songwriting, good vocals, and an appreciation for rock & roll, and the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC gave us lush harmonies and production, Take That lacks the confidence or the style of even the weakest cut by the above-mentioned groups.

In the early 1970s, Dusty Springfield relocated from her native England to Los Angeles in an effort to pursue new opportunities in her career and signed with ABC/Dunhill Records. Her 1973 album Cameo showcased Springfield's soulful pop in splendid fashion but failed to generate significant traction outside of Billboard's Adult Contemporary listings. For her sophomore project with the label the following year, Dusty travelled to New York to team with producer Brooks Arthur, renowned for his work with Phil Spector's 1960s coterie of girl singers, For Longing, Arthur chose to frame Dusty in the 1970s singer-songwriter milieu, surrounding her with material from Colin Blunstone ("Exclusively for Me"), Melissa Manchester & Carole Bayer Sager ("Home to Myself"), Janis Ian ("In the Winter"), Stephen Schwartz ("Corner of the Sky"), Chi Coltrane ("Turn Me Around"), Barry Manilow ("I Am Your Child") and others. In many cases, the songwriters themselves contributed directly by playing keyboards on their respective creations at Arthur's famed 911 Studios. Bruce Springsteen was also known to sit in on some of the sessions in admiration.

Led by the songwriting and virtuoso musical duo of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, Steely Dan released an extraordinary run of seven albums on ABC Records and MCA Records from 1972 through 1980. Filled with topline musicianship, clever and subversive wordplay, ironic humor, genius arrangements, and pop hits that outshone the Top 40 of its day, their records, which were as sophisticated and cerebral as they were inscrutable, were stylistically diverse, melding their love of jazz with rock, blues, and impeccable pop songcraft.

Chaka is the debut solo album by American singer Chaka Khan. It was released on October 12, 1978, through Warner Bros. Records. Following the release of the Chaka album, Khan reunited with Rufus for the recording of 1979's Masterjam, produced by Quincy Jones. Her second solo album Naughty followed in 1980.

Legendary Milanese combo Calibro 35 continue their journey into the world of cinematic jazz-funk with their new album "Exploration." Set for worldwide release on June 6, "Exploration" marks their return to independent label Record Kicks after their last studio album "Nouvelle Aventures" released on Universal Music in 2023. The band picks up from their latest EP, "Jazzploitation," released on Record Kicks last October.

I started writing the songs on this album as the pandemic began winding down; the titular song “What Did You Miss” pointed the way forward, with its final verse: “I’ve been writing it down/song by song/as a personal history” when imagining this collection of songs as memoir, and how the wisdom that comes with growing older becomes a north star, whether one is celebrating life’s joys or navigating life’s inevitable losses. From the first verse of “Paint + Turpentine” about sitting in the dark of the Birchmere Music Hall watching Guy Clark teach a master class in songwriting and story telling, to coming to terms with how later life turned out in “Girl and Her Dog”, to inventorying what matters in “The Saving Things” to discovering the wisdom in words and phrases that we usually roll our eyes towards in “Say It Anyway”, it is my hope that these songs allow the listener to come away not only with a musical sketch of my life from young adulthood on, but also an affirming reflection of their own life as well.

Billy Harper is one of a generation of Coltrane-influenced tenor saxophonists who actually built upon the master's work, rather than simply copy it. Harper is consummately well-rounded, able to play convincingly in any context, from bop to free. His muscular tone, lithe articulation, comprehensive harmonic knowledge, and unflagging energy define him as a saxophonist. He's also possessed of an abundant imagination that connects directly to his blues and gospel roots. Though not as well-known as he might be, Harper is a jazz improviser of significant stature. Harper grew up in Houston, TX. By the age of five he was singing in church and at various choral events.

For over two decades, Matt Johnson has been an integral force behind the globally renowned singer Jamiroquai, serving as the band’s keyboardist and co-writer on most of his material. His contributions helped shape the singer’s signature blend of acid jazz, funk and electronic sounds, earning him a reputation as one of the most innovative and respected keyboard players in the industry.
