Tasha Thomas was an American singer-songwriter and actress. "Midnight Rendezvous" was released in 1979, and spun off two more disco hits in “Hot Buttered Boogie” and “Street Fever“. Unfortunately, Thomas’ health took a turn for the worse; she was diagnosed with cancer and spent much of the early ’80s battling the disease.

Tasha Thomas had her first breakthrough when she casted in the original Broadway production of the classic play The Wiz. She soon earned worldwide critical acclaim for her performance on the play's album, singing her soulful rendition of the ballad “The Feeling We Once Had”. She provided back vocals on several songs on Slade's 1976 album, Nobody's Fools.

In 1978, On the basis of her growing popularity as an impressively versatile singer, capable of performing in many different styles and genres, producers Jimmi Hood and Peter Rugile signed Thomas to their company, Orbit Record Productions. Thomas's first record release on the producer’s independent label was the international dance smash “Shoot Me (With Your Love),” written by James R. Glaser. Producers Jimmi Hood and Peter Rugile moved Thomas and their production company to Atlantic Records to complete Thomas’s first solo album, Midnight Rendezvous.
A lasting classic from Disco diva Tasha Thomas – a vocalist who’d already lent her talents to numerous studio sessions, commercials, and disco tracks by the time of this release – which has the lady stepping into the spotlight as a fully-formed talent in her own right.
