Load is the sixth studio album by Metallica, originally released in June 1996, and is the band's longest studio album with a playing time of 79 minutes. As the successor to the "Black Album", it reached number 1 on the album charts in many countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand - and contains the singles "Until It Sleeps", "Hero of the Day", "Mama Said" and "King Nothing".
The "Load Expanded Edition" contains 41 tracks from the remastered album, previously unreleased demos, rough mixes and live tracks from their worldwide tour.
"After all these years, everything that people complain about is pretty indifferent and it seems that those who have a problem with "load" really have to wonder if they really don't like it or if it's a persistent feeling of betrayal that the barriers are perpetuating. You can understand the confusion this album has caused, and even some of the criticism, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a well-written, well-produced and brilliant piece of rock at a level that most bands never reach at any point in their careers. To all the critics out there: Do yourself a favor and hang up the thrash hat for one night. Just enjoy some good, solid melodies from a really strong album, which is now being remastered, released and comes along for collectors in a massive "Load Remastered Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set".
