    O presente livro reúne trabalhos que abordam as mais diferentes facetas de instituições ligadas ao crime e à justiça criminal desde uma análise em clave histórica. Por «clave histórica» deve-se entender que a construção dos objetos de pesquisa aqui apresentados trata de fenômenos vistos a partir dos processos históricos e de suas rupturas e/ou disjunturas, portanto, sem qualquer perspectiva naturalizadora ou a-histórica.
