My new book Proxmox Firewall Understand Activate Isolate offers a comprehensive introduction to Proxmox VE 8’s firewall topic, aimed at everyone who wants to protect their Proxmox environment from unauthorized access and threats. Configuring the firewall in Proxmox requires not only knowledge of network security but also an understanding of the specific levels on which the firewall operates: Datacenter, Node, and VM-CT firewalls. In this book, I explain these different levels and show you how to create a secure environment with targeted rules.

We start with the Datacenter firewall, which represents the top layer. Next is the Node firewall, where security is broken down to individual hosts. The VM and CT firewalls are the finest layer of security, allowing you to secure each individual virtual machine or container.

Of course, this book cannot cover all possible use cases and deeper technical concepts in full detail (as always), because network security and firewalls are complex, evolving fields. However, with this book, you’ll learn the basic principles of the Proxmox firewall and how to effectively use it to make your environment more secure. It is meant to serve as a tool to help you understand Proxmox better and customize the firewall to your specific needs.
